Ok, so I am not quite that fast, but it was 1007 words in 20 minutes before I sped it up. My personal best is about 1500.
I plan on doing a post going into more detail about how I write so fast in the future, but for this post, I am going to keep it short and sweet with five bullet points summing up the ways I got into the flow of writing in this video.
1. I have been a writer for a long time. I went from school to university, and then on to a post-grad without a break. I never took a break from writing essays, and I have also written freelance for a living on and off for most of the past decade. My speed is down to experience, and the fact I touch type.
2. I planned out this chapter before I started. I knew what I was going to be writing before I started, it's what is in the notebook you can see in this video. That makes a vast difference to my speed.
3. I was running a Sprint on Discord using the Writer Bot. This gives me a 20 minute window where I am entirely focussed on writing.
4. I used Scrivener's Composition Mode, which also helps me to focus rather than being distracted by other things on the screen.
5. I had an awesome playlist on and noise-canceling headphones. They also help me to stay focused, and it psychologically puts me in the right frame of mind to write.
I mainly shared this for fun, but hopefully, some of those points are useful if you are looking to improve your speed.
